Case Study Adam

Adam is a 29 year old with cerebral palsy. Like many people with physical disabilities, Adam went to a specialist college where he received round-the-clock support.

Adam later moved into his own flat. This should have been the time where he started living the life of an independent adult and enjoying all the freedoms that come with this.

Unfortunately, Adam’s local council deprived Adam of this opportunity by cutting his support to just 6 hours per day, with no overnight support.

This was the bare minimum he needed to get by each day, but didn’t allow him to do any of the things he loved. This was like living in lockdown for 6 years! Within 6 months of contacting LiveYou, Adam saw a near threefold increase in his funding.

Adam, and his family, suffered and fought for 6 years, going through several appeals and involving every professional imaginable, including; multiple doctors, OT’s, The Police and even his MP.

Despite all of this, Adam’s council would not budge and it seemed like nothing would change their minds.

As soon as we heard about Adam’s situation, we were deeply concerned and immediately got to work on meticulously reviewing over 600 pages worth of evidence and comparing this to over 700 pages of government guidelines.

We were able to provide multiple examples of what we believe to be unlawful behaviour on the council’s part.

We were able to swiftly put these findings to the council which duly overturned 6 years worth of decisions, to give Adam full 24 hour live-in support, delivered precisely the way he wished.

Within 6 months, Adam saw a near threefold increase in his funding.

Adam can now have the quality of life he has always dreamed of and begin to achieve the things he has wanted to achieve for so long.
